You might want to consider using Skype rather than IPsound, as it has a lot of
decent low bandwidth codexes.
I recommend the ICE 402 for a BCB filter.

maybe it is discontinued now but could be found very cheap second hand.

I just simply place the transmit toggle switch to standby and then power
down the FLX5000. The reason I do not power down the amp first is because
the tubes need to cool down for a bit before shutting completely down.

Did you remember to patch the XP FireWire driver with the unpublished
Hot Fix from Microsoft, kb885222 otherwise the FireWire driver will
not run fast enough to keep up with the radio.

Have you checked the System Info as reported by the firewire driver? It can
sometimes point to a clue, just go to the Info tab, click on the System Info
check box and run it. The text box will appear with information on
compatibility of your firewire card, whether the SidSpeed has been set, etc.
