Greetings. I've been running the 5000A on Win 7 with no problems. Decided to
get it up and running on the XP machine.
Ran into problems with the install. Tried to turn off the flex but it would
not power off. Turned off the power supply.
Now the flex won't power up at all...just hear a click
I just noticed that I have ether low or no tx power on 40 meters all other
bands are working fine. I have chacked all of my setting and they all look like
they are all set right. is their a fix for this or a setting I may be missing

I'm a new Flex 5000A owner. I recently purchased one about a year old and am
getting around to hooking it up with my iMac running Win 7 and Boot Camp.
Because of my station layout I need to route the firewire cable from the
Flex through my external backup drive and then to the computer. Does
Hi Rick
I think my best advice would be to buy a longer firewire cable and connect
directly. Otherwise, try what you have and if you have any issues, revert to
the advice given earlier!

You might want to try resetting your database. I had a similar problem on
60m and a DB reset solved my problem.

I strongly recommend that you do NOT daisy chain ANYTHING through the
FLEX-5000. I would not even connect another device on the same Firewire host
bus controller (HBC) that the FLEX-5000 is connected to because the FLEX-5000
running at 192K per channel is consuming a lot of bandwidth. Also
Thanks for the alert on the K5CM Frequency Measuring Test a few nights ago.
That test uses two stations to send a CW carrier on 160, 80 (twice) and 40
meters. A FMT is something totally new to me. My only preparation was to
calibrate the radio carefully against WWV using its built-in scope. My
I did, and got within 27 mHz for one of the runs with my GPSDO'ed
5000a. Better than 0.1 Hz on three of the four.
Brian, WB6RQN, got within 5 mHz on one!!! I got within 10 mHz on a
test awhile back.
One problem with the 5000a is that the tuning step size is pretty big.

Where can I find some literature on measurement equipment and techniques ?

Hi Jeff,
For about $150 you can get a used Trimble Thunderbolt
GPSDO that will give you a precision 10 MHz reference
signal to put into your Flex Radio. Tune in WWV
and watch the Phase display. The rotation is from
Doppler.
After parking the rig at a convenient frequency a

An additional source of error is the fact that the 5000 does not tune
continuously. It tunes in steps, and they are irregular, so an
additional correction is required. When you are watching your WWV
phase display, a part of the error you see may be due to this. This
may not be important unless
