I have been using Ontech GSM-relay for power control if Internet link fails.
I have the main unit after UPS and two slave units. Controlling is
done with cell phone. With text message I can boot ADSL modem or PC.
Also to pull the big switch is possible.

Hi Dudley
No RFI issues in my case. Just concern about the frailty of a remote
Internet connection. I'd rather not wait out a timer. I'd like the
transmitter to drop immediately if the remote session ends.

Guys,
If your transmitter is knocking down your Internet link, then you and a
bigger problem with RFI.. If you are talking about TX timeout, Steve,
K5FR has that solved with DDUtil already. It has a Watchdog timer built in
and will drop the transmitter if you lose your ability to get logged
Gary:
FWIW, I take the TX relay output from the radio (which also keys the
linear) to start a timer which if it stays closed for more than 10
minutes kills all power to the radio (via another relay). Crude but
functional. Prevents Old Buzzard transmissions, too.

Well. I used to have a flakey DSL connection at my remote location and had to
find a solution. I also was asked about how to do this from a former FCC
enforcement director so glad I had the right answer! ! BTW, I chose to use a
Glentek module and eliminate the remote computer at the same time.
Good question Gary. I've been wondering the same thing myself. Here's the
scenario...
You check into the net, patently wait your turn, press the MOX button, start
transmitting and ...
The hotel internet connection goes down.
It seems like you'd need a watch-dog program to unkey the transmitter

i wind my phone line around a ferrite rod, just before it plugs into my dsl
modem.. looks like a filament choke for a g-g amp, ha ! but hey, it works...

I have been watching this interchange and have a question : how do you protect
against loss of internet while in transmit mode?

This was problem for me too. Now I have configured my ADSL modem so
that remote CW and audio are having high priority, Graphics and web
like traffic is low priority. Bandwidth management did the trick.
I used to use Timbuktu Pro for remote desktop, but Tight VNC has been
performing better.

We use Ericom Blaze to manage around 450 Windows 2003/2008 servers world wide -
some of which are on very narrow bandwidth limited

Here are some of my tips to reduce the video-induced latency:
1. Make sure averaging is turned on the panadapter.
2. Minimize PSDR when you do not need it on the screen.
3. Reduce the frames per second rate of the display (in the Setup/Display
box).
4. You can try increasing the resolution of the t

Decreasing the number of colors (color depth) can help also. But if
you got to have the panadapter, you are going to have to have the bandwidth
no matter what you use to transfer it.. Even in raw data..Catch 22..

Bandwidth is ½ of the problem. The other issue running over the Internet is
latency and delta latency (latency over time) - for the Panadapter repaints and
audio transfer too. Also how efficient is the PC remote control program you
are using is a big factor to transfer the ever changing deskto
does anybody know how much bandwidth / speed it takes to get a
usable panadapter at, say, 15 FPS, over a remote ?

Just turn off the Panadapter in PowerSDR or lower the FPS rate.
