I switched to IPSound from Skype because of the lower b/w requirements. I
have had great success from hotel rooms with wireless internet, when Skype
normally had some latency.

Rich, thanks for the IPSound suggestion. As best I can tell, it looks like
that program hasn't been updated in a very long time and might actually be
abandoned. It seems to still work well on Windows but there is no MacOS X
client available that I can find.

I have used Skype in the past. However, Skype is designed for high
quality telephone conversations and it tries to eliminate background
noise. A certain amount of noise is inherent in our usage and any
attempt to eliminate it, instead of improving it, causes pumping. Thus,

I have received many suggestions and have cleared up a couple of the

-73 dbm with no antenna attached! seems out of wack to me . any
suggestions?

What software options are there for routing rx/tx audio over the network,
for remote PowerSDR operation? Normally I use Skype, but I'm rarely outside
my house, I usually operate remotely on the same LAN, so I don't need its
global reach. And the audio quality & latency are not that great.

I'll continue to use a keyboard (and a good, IBM "clicky" keyboard at
that). I mostly work digital, and I can type much faster on a physical
keyboard (gives feedback) than I can type by touching the
"keys" on a touch screen. But then, I also dislike most laptop keyboards

You can do a lot of things but some of them are not provident. Driving
screws with a hammer works sort of but is not optimal.
I find touch screens to be OK in some instances but fine work is not one of
them. Everyone I know who has used touch screens (significantly larger than

I recently installed PowerSDR 2.3.5 but am having problems and would
like to drop back to 2.2.3 temporarily.
Can I do this by simply running 2.2.3 or do I have to make changes in
firmware/driver/etc first? If so, what is required?
Thanks

Solved. Pilot error.

Argh, and phew. :)

This can also be caused by excessive DPC (Deferred Process Calls). I had
a similar problem when I first got my Flex-3000 and for me the main
culprit turned out to be the real time protection in Malwarebytes. After
disabling real time protection my problem was solved. I still do a daily

I found its not that you cannot use it but its not the optimal way to use it.
I found it good for "gross" tuning but for fine tuning (where you would
normally use close-in click-tune or wheel scrolling, its not as natural.

When your radio goes into "convulsions" as you say, what is happening is that
you have too many

Patrick,
Interesting comments on your part about the inability for PSDR not able to be
used with a touch screen. If you search YouTube you will find many video
submissions using a touch screen with PSDR. Look at Ik3vig's many touch screen
and cube3d videos.

I had one of those at the lab where I worked. You could highlight text using
your fingers and then move it to a different position within your Wordstar
document and lots of other text manipulations all of which were slower and
more clumsy than using a mouse and or the control (X, C, and V) short
Hi Larry,
I will be faced with the same problem. Hopefully I'll be getting my DB18E
up in the air sometime toward the end of August. I use DDUtil, and plan on
using it for the Steppir. I am hoping that I can use a USB to serial
converter for the Steppir. I have heard various successful / unsuc
