This is how rumors start ...
Most likely answer is that Flex saw the damage and decided it was not
economically
feasible to repair. There's a lot of missing information here that must
be disclosed
before we attack Flex.

Don't believe everything you read. I'm sure someone from FlexRadio will
chip in, but the warranty period for Flex5k's sold hasn't yet expired.
HOWEVER, no warranty in the world will pay for a radio damaged by
lightning. That's an insurance claim!

I emailed the person listing the Flex 5K. He has talked to Flex and they
told him they couldn’t estimate how much to repair until they looked at it.
Any electronic gear that has been damaged by an electrical charge may be
fixed and still fail again thus most manufacturers will not warranty th
The ad stated that it was hit by lightning. Maybe he already sent it back
to Flex and Flex found it to be unrepairable due to extensive damage?

Seriously, considering the excellent reputation Flex has earned over the
years for excellent customer service, I will bet they will continue to do
so for a long time. :)

Jon,
This is definitely NOT true. Flex stopped selling the FLEX-5000A in June
2013, but will continue to repair & support the FLEX-5000A for the
foreseeable future.
Consider that Flex stopped selling the SDR-1000 over 6 years ago (if I
recall correctly), but only with the latest version does Pow
I just had my 5000A repaired under warranty less than two weeks ago. I
can't see how this could be true.

Hi Jon
Flex will continue to repair and support the 5000 for time to come
(years?), do not worry. I think what the person who carelessly wrote
this was meaning is that you can no longer buy a new one from Flex, they
have stopped selling new units.

The radios are still supported. Manufacturing has ended.
Repairs and support continue.

Hi,
I saw this ad on QRZ.

It seems to indicate that Flex will no longer support/repair a 5000.
Is this correct? If so that sure isn't my idea of taking care of
customers.
