Over the past 3 years I have used 2 amps that just 'work'. with
both the 3000 & 5000A. The manually tuned Emtron DX-1d, and the
automatic everything SGC-500 brick!
Current setup is 3000/5000A + SGC-500 + LDG AT1000 + MFJ4275MV

I am a newbie at setting up a Flex3000/5000 as a remote controlled station.
and would like some detailed advise/guidance. Possibly by direct email or
Skype call so as to not take up much bandwidth on the forum? The plan is to
establish a station at a friends QTH in Nadi Fiji and operate it from

Why 'upgrade' to MMTTY?
FLDIGI is far superior, so IMHO migrating to MMTTY is a step downward.
I used MMTTY from its beginning.and last year made the switch to FLDIGI.
It was like swapping my Ford sedan for a Ford Mustang!!

change the LOW to 300HZ, the HIGH to 2900HZ, and boosted the center
spectrum by one level. Used minimal compression. Mic was Heil H5 element.
A Flex-Radio will be my ONLY rig on future dxpeditions.but, I will probably
like to get a 3000 and leave the 5000 at home.

A lot of interesting information has been generated by this thread.I think
that everyone is aware of the 'list' of known good/bad interfaces. An
excellent point was made as regards using ETHERNET as a demonstrated
workable interface method.something the Flex-Radio Engineers might

Thanks for the links regarding other manufactured products with "firewire"

I guess a lot of readers would classify my previous, long email, as

Hi All,
I have been using my F5KA for over a year on an old Toshiba laptop.
Keyboard was damaged by my cockatoo, so I decided to get a new laptop.
I did a lot of research, and settled on a 'high-end' Toshiba Qosmio X505
with 18" screen, 4GB DDR3 RAM, 1GB dedicated video DDR5 VRAM, i5
processor.
Wow...did we get off the topic on this one!
90% of the replies were of absolutely NO VALUE in helping me
resolve the problem.
In future, maybe you all can start a NEW TOPIC when getting so far
off track?
The only useful advice I got was to run the driver using

Hi techheads...Got an unusual (for me) problem...
Got another laptop for dxpedition, but the PSDR 2 stopped working.
Laptop is Acer Aspire 5520, 4GB RAM, 500MB HDD, Intel 2GHZ dual
core processor, firewire.
When I first installed it, there was no problem... worked a few
stations on CW and SSB OK
THANKS to everyone who responded. Won't continue the thread any

one of the suggested laptops with firewire.
BTW...My old Toshiba Tecra P4 internal firewire connection works
fine with PSDR2 (except for the video 'freezing') which I b

Thank you for the guidance... Although I am in Australia, the
