Let me add my two centsthe 3000 is superb. I have no experience with the K3 and only limited time logged with a KX3. The K3 is more expensive than the 3000 and its pan adaptor is available as an option as is its tuner. Transmit audio is about the same on both rigs. Receivers essentially

I kind of wish Rob would have tested the F5K, K3 and Orion down to lets say 100 hz on the narrow dynamic range. The radios have the capability to perform there, and it gets inside the roofing filter which is really a crutch that was developed by Ten Tec to win the numbers game. In the Orion-2

I have both radios now and used them in the just ended DX contest. I did lots of a/b comparisons. Let me tell you (from my perspective) nothing beats the audio and visual input to the brain. With the 5000 narrowed down to 100Hz or less, it was unbeatable. Phil K3TUF
