Very good point, Mike,
Maybe would should strike a deal with our programmers: We'll back of on
new ideas for PowerSDR until they get the User Interface split off...

Rob,
Like anything, one person's feature is another person's bug. The audio
coming in through VAC intentionally bypass all audio processing (EQ,
compression, etc.) because it was envisioned to be used only for "digital"
modes. I used quotes because SSTV, while not a digital mode, would still
use
Instead of having FRS change PowerSDR,
I'd rather have them get version 2 going.
That will split out the User Interface
and make lots of changes possible.

Well, if you're looking for a "communications" mic (as opposed to wide band
hifi) and don't mind a
hand/fist type how about the Shure 527b. The response curve of the element
appears to fall somewhere
between the Heil HC4 and HC5.

Hi Rob. Heil push to talk switch assembly wired to an adapter cable to
the 9 pin connector on the back of the SDR1000. I can also plug in the
Heil footswitch. RS mike goes direct into the Edirol FA66.

As an aside to using inexpensive mikes with the SDR-1000, I also made my
own boom out of a swing arm lamp from Target and unused mike parts from
a very poor desktop mike stand. I will never use a desktop stand again -
conducted noise from everything that vibrates within a block of my house.

Hi Alan,
The 33-3018 appears to be replaced by the 33-3038.
If you could take a peek would be appreciated...

Hi All,
To perhaps draw this to a close...
I searched the archives to find a reference to an inexpensive mic for
flexRadios. Back on Nov 29, Carl Vangsness recommended the RS 33-3018
dynamic mic. How do others feel about it for casual SSB?

Hi Jim,
We haven't chatted for a bit, but sounds like you're having fun..
You make good points... to summarize: paying big bucks for raw
frequency response should be low on the list compared to polar
sensitivity and mechanical characteristics. To which I would add style
of operation (eg. heads

Hi all,
Have three questions about mics, but first let me say I'm a cw guy thru
and thru. Grew up on Telegraph Rd. Claim it permanently warped me...
(Absolutely true, Telephone Rd. ran parallel to Telegraph Rd a mile
South.)
Still I do like to have a mic for each rig. Just haven't bothered
