computer. I think the problem by me was when I transferred a file using
a 32-bit program. Windows Explorer, which I assume is 64-bit on a 64-bit
OS, didn't always display the file. I haven't noticed in a while, so

Thank you to everyone who replied. Originally, when I opened the Variables
panel from the Special menu, selected my user variable then clicked the Edit
tool, the fields in the Add/Edit dialog box were completely blank. I was able
to add a new user variable just fine, but when I would open the

Penelope, thanks for the further refinement.
For me, closing and reopening Windows Explorer has had no effect. Neither have
restarting or shutting down and starting up the workstation, so OMHV. I seem
to have no influence (let alone control) in the matter.

files on a network resolves the failure to display, and that the failure to
display does not happen when using C: \.

Did you refresh the display for the directory? That has always fixed
those problems for me.
