I don't know what the big deal is. For remembering the last five
searches alone it's worth forking over 400 bucks to Adobe. Don't think
about the fact that there are numerous free text editors that have had
that feature for years. Those are simple text editors - not your main

UI pretty messed up trying different things, but no palette. I've been
using FM10 for at least six months now and am underwhelmed. I preferred
FM8.

What does Adobe charge for upgrading from FM10 to FM8? I could use the
extra stability and better UI.
Does the font for the paragraph tag where you're applying it have a bold weight?

system. Agreed it's an odd application.

The first thing you need to do is choose a font that that character.
At least in Windows 7, Arial, Courier New, and Times New Roman all
have it. You can use Windows' (not FrameMaker's) Character Map
utility's Advanced View to check other fonts.

Yeah, that's it. The weight for Franklin Gothic is Bolded,not Bold. If
you want to lose the override mark, change the character tag weight to
Bolded or create another character tag for Bolded.

OK, good. If so, the next thing that may help is saving these sections as MIF
7.0 and then saving them back as FM. In 80% of cases, this method helped me
remove this invisible foe -- the corruption.

The bug in FM 9 & 10 occurs when the variables tab is attached to other tabs
and in a panel. You have to remove the variables from the panel and tab so it
is independent and floating.

I have a document with number of tables.
Each table in the document has a 'Table Title' paragraph style applied to

For some reason, when I apply the tag, it's always marked with an asterisk, even
if I apply "Default Para Font" first, and then "B
FrameMaker doesn't render EPS graphics. It displays the embedded
preview bitmap if there is one, otherwise a blank box. So as Rick
says, you need to generate a PDF to tell if the transparency is OK.
