This is a list of possible causes sent originally by Harro de Jong:
- rightclick chapter in book->Pagination->Make page count odd/even (can
add empty page at end of chapter)
- rightclick chapter in book->Pagination-> 1st page side (can add empty
page at start of chapter)
- Page break in paragrap
To avoid crashing when importing, remove some or all of the pictures
before importing the file.

And the answer is...
Thanks to some "super-sleuthing" by Rick Quatro the causes have been found.
One document had a stray, empty text box that was preventing the
deletion of the extra pages.
The other included an inset with a table. In FrameMaker 11 it splits
across 2 pages (a header row and 2

also counts as something that will make a specific page non-empty even if there
is no visible content.

This is a wild guess out of nowhere. :) Sometimes I've had "empty" pages which
actually contain a tiny, invisible little text box-in other words, some object
that Frame thinks it is supposed to keep. When I update the book or save the
file, the empty pages remain unless I find the off

particular, I've also seen the cloned main text frame. That's a tough one to
troubleshoot because as you say, it overlies the "real" one. Here's how I
finally found it:

I, too, have fought with this problem on several occasions in the past (the
comments about All Conditions showing vs a specific set of Conditions
definitely apply to my case).
When this rears its head again, I will now have several new things to try in
order to correct the problem.
