I've found the URLs in a Word doc often don't work when the doc is PDF'd. What
I do is Share the Word doc, select "Email", then "Send as PDF". This starts a
new email message with the PDF'd Word doc attached. Then just copy the PDF and

3. How can I define an FM variable that has a Japanese value? When I paste
Japanese text into the variable definition, I get gibberish.

I ran Help Check for Updates again in Acrobat. The update took about half
an hour or more. When the update was complete, it prompted for a reboot.
Printing then worked fine. All the printer drivers were restored to the
printers folder with their original configuration.
