My uname -a, /boot/loader.conf, kldstat and a successful load of ipdivert
using kldload after boot time:

If the the freezer doesn't work I suggest finding an identical drive and
replace the electronic board. Worked for many damaged drives.

restart the system when AC power is restored (see apcupsd).

all seemingly without errors. But when I use UDMA6, the machine
immediately dies when the disk gets written to.
So my question:
What's the best way to tell FreeBSD to always use UDMA5 mode on that
disk at boot time (before it attempts to use the drive)?
8 I get 3416071 bytes/sec.
But this is still very poor. The system is a PIII 800MHz and a SCSI-3 disc
in single user mode booted from FreeBSD release 5.4 live-cd.
Any ideas how to analyze this? Thanks in advance!

i am running freebsd 5.1 release.
each time i want to use the logout menuitem of the gnome menu the gnome
panel hangs. i searched the web and found several infos about it but no
solution. any gnome2 user here having solved the probem ?

system i get :
smbfs: server name "x.y" too long
the server name is 16 chars long and i found out (looking at the
