Seems snapshots.jp.freebsd.org has been unable to build a release
(seemingly due to the /usr/share/mk upgrade) since 7/15, and now it's
not accepting ftp connections at all.

I did yesterday the last cvsupdate and compiled the system, a new
kernel, did a mergemaster.
The hardware is a older PII/350 (Dual), 512 MB RAM (dmesg output at the end).
Today I did a cvsupdate again to obtain the ip_fw2-code and test it.

4.6.1-RC2 and told it to install X for the first time.
Having installed X and configured it, when I tried to run X as a normal
