Anyway, hope that helps somehow.

P.S. How do you like the Zalman case? I've been eying it for awhile,
thinking it would be a perfect platform to rebuild my Freevo machine.

I've promised that before, and faithfully I promise it again!

I have a generic (Askey) BT848 card. I haven't used it in years, but it
worked just fine when I stored it.
I am willing to ship to you at my expense.

10% is a good rule of thumb. Good cables (especially loudspeaker cables)
can easily give 10% better sound. M

Seriousely, ALL cables have a sonic signature. Silver is,
Nevermind... Installed pkg-config (NOT to be confused with Slackware's
pkg-tools) and recompiled SDL. Most everything seems to work now.
Thanks for the help!

Now we're getting somewhere!!!
Here's what shows up:

My procedure was very similar to the instructions above.
Yes, just recompiled pygame and SDL. Still doesn't fix the problem.

Title: Freevo,DirectFB,G400 - Can't get Freevo to display
Hello all,
I can't get Freevo to display when trying to use dfbmga. This is actually two separate issues?
1) Both the directfb and the dfbmga drivers work fine when running mplayer from the console ('mplayer -vo dfbmga foo.mpeg' or
ct!
OK, so you can't exactly discover radio stations in the Freevo menu, but
after you create your webradio FXD, you can browse and navigate the stations
through Freevo.
If that sounds convoluted, just let me know.

Are you sure framebuffer is being turned on by default when you boot? Ie..
Do you see the penguin at the top left corner when you boot? Are there
other framebuffer based programs that work correctly?

I MIGHT BE WRONG, but I think that can be found in the "DEFAULT_KEYMAP"

Has anyone gotten the G400 picture stuff (color,
saturation, contrast, brightness, etc...) working? I’ve tried the maven-prog.tgz
program referened in the Wiki, but no matter what I set, it doesn’t
change anything. I’m sooo close to having a stand alone media box.
If I could just get TV-

A very big THANK YOU goes out to all who have
volunteered their time and services on this project.
I’m sure playlist creation has been discussed
in full; however, no one has bothered to update the Wiki. Could someone
please inform me of how to create a manual playlist for my music coll

I use a WinTV PVR-250. So it's extremely easy to record in full NTSC
resolution with 30fps. The card uses an on-board hardware decoder chip that
writes to MPEG2--thereby reducing CPU usage to extremely low levels.
I'd like to maybe do some divx converting in the background, but have yet to

Hello, good sir, Fabio...
I now more fully understand your ideas.
However, I still have a sense of purity in my mind. I'm not a developer,
just a user, so it probably doesn't really matter anyway (I don't want to
step on anyone's toes here).
To continue our discussion...

I have an original boxed G-400 Dual Head. The product came with this cable
you are talking about. All the cable does is turn the standard 15-pin VGA
signal into appropriate signals for hookup to a television by either RCA or
S-Video. There is no driver support necessary to output via the cable;

I had that problem with Mplayer when I upgraded my alsa drivers to 1.x So,
if you're using 1.x alsa drivers, use:
MPLAYER_AO_DEV = 'alsa1x' # e.g.: oss,sdl,alsa, see mplayer docs

freevo works...kinda. Freevo will come up and work fine except when I try
to watch TV, it will only go black for a few seconds and then re-display the
