Sounds like mplayer might not be working with your sound card... if you have artsd or whatever the KDE sound mixer thing is called it might be blocking. You may have to recompile mplayer with arts support, or use a non-blocking sound driver (like the OSS SBLive if you have a Live, or any ALSA dri
