FVWM: Can't install PNG support into FVWM -- Please help.

2002-11-14 Thread Ben Sferrazza
Hi, I'm trying to build fvwm-2.5.4 on a Solaris box, and am running into problems making files for png support. I have untar'ed and uncompressed the fvwm files into a directory, with the xpm and png libraries one directory up. Configure seems to run without a hitch. ./configure --prefix=/lsi/h

FVWM: Pixmap not shown with many colors

2002-11-25 Thread Ben Sferrazza
I'm trying to add a background to my menus and used the MenuFace TiledPixmap foo.xpm command under MenuStyle *. The pixmap seems to load OK, but it's displayed as the dithering of very few colors (looks awful). I'm using 2.5.4 on Solaris, and built fvwm with XPM and PNG support with no problem.

FVWM: Color Problems

2002-12-17 Thread Ben Sferrazza
I've previously written about this problem, but I have yet to solve it. I cannot get FVWM to properly display XPM pixmaps at their original color depth (they appear to be at most 8-bit). I've tried running 2.4.13, 2.5.4, and 2.5.5, all on a Sun UltraSPARC Solaris 2.7 system. I built FVWM with

Using the -C TrueColor option seemed to fix my pixmap problem. I still cannot load PNGs though. hmmm. Ben Looking thru the mail archive, the last thing I see is a request that you send the output of xdpyinfo and the PrintInfo colors fvwm command. Most likely your display card supports both 8

I take that back. Although I can now see pixmaps in full color in fvwm, when I start FVWM I get a core dump, and several lines of Error Messages are printed to the FvwmConsole. This also somehow prevents FvwmTaskbar from starting correctly. Ben Using the -C TrueColor option seemed to fix my

I gave you the command: dbx `which fvwm2` core it sounds like you ran: dbx core perhaps the "which" command isn't working right. As I remember, you executed fvwm using the full path. Try running it this way instead: dbx /lsi/home/bsferraz/bin/fvwm-2.5.5/bin/fvwm core then type in "where".

Mikhael, Actually, when I said run another fvwm I was thinking of the '-replace' option. That did work. I reran it without using '-C TrueColor', and here's what PrintInfo Colors gives me. FVWM info on colors Visual ID: 0x20, Default?: Yes, Class: PseudoColor Depth: 8, Number of colors: 25

Just to be sure this problem with FvwmTaskBar core dumping when TrueColor is used isn't just with fvwm-2.5.5, I also loaded fvwm-2.4.13 and fvwm-2.5.4 with '-visual TrueColor' and the same problem occurs. Here's the PrintInfo Colors when run with '-C TrueColor' FVWM info on colors Visual ID:
