Hey, i'm buying a powerbook g3 lombard, which is the reason that I originally
joined this list, and it turns out that the battery might not work too well.
This is the situation:
He hasn't used it too much, and just kept it stored for over a year. I
assume that it wasn't fully charged.
Having accumulated several dozen of these dead drives, I can vouch that it is
NEITHER a connector problem nor a motherboard, software, or PRAM problem. The
drive is the problem--they die, and they die regularly.
We've begun replacing these for the unlucky who are no longer covered by
Apple,
I've just realized that the S-Video out on my
Wallstreet 300 is having problems. I can see the
image on the TV screen (S-video to RCA adapter), but
it's as though the vertical hold isn't working
(scrolling up/down at a fast clip), and it's all in

Thanks - that was it. My problem was that if I
started up, then plugged in the S-Video, the PB
wouldn't recognize it, even if I put it to sleep and
woke it back up. If I plugged in the S-Video first,
then restarted, the PB would default to that incorrect
PAL S-Video output as the primary
I sold mine a few weeks ago as I switched to an iBook. I had it working in
9.2.2 with no problems at all.

Real easy. Any apps in the applications folder are accessible by all users.
So any apps you want exclusive access to -- move them out of the applications
folder and put them in your own home folder. He can't get to them there
unless he knows your login password.
