Magnetic Havoc
Wasn't that the name of the 1st Mac virus ...:)
This tidbit was passed along to me from a friend who worked
on electronics. I do not know how much the magnetic field would have

Bill,
My Pismo came with 9.0.4. But I use 9.2.3 (the latest update)
regularly and it's fine. I don't know if it would boot with anything
earlier than 9.0.4. Looking at Apple's tech specs, they say the
Original SSW was 9.0 (not just 9). So I suspect it *ought* to boot off
any version of 9.
I've never had problems with my magnetized screwdrivers, and appreciate
the ability to retrieve lost little screws from the inner guts of the
PB.
I would suggest that you keep in mind that there is a strong magnet
built into the case of the Pismo itself (directly under your lefthand
wrist, as

I borrowed another OS9 installation disc from a neighbor and could not
boot using it either. It is exactly like mine (OS 9) so I suspect that
Pismo will not boot on anything less than OS9.0.2 which is what it
originally shipped with. Mine has Jaguar installed and I prefer to
simply run it on

Wow! That's all I have to say about the new AlBooks. But aside from
the wonderful design these little things are a real pain when it comes
to fixing something that goes wrong. That's where my trusty old Pismo
comes in.
In less than 12 hours after she first got it, I managed to render my

Bah, you'll see, once you get hold of OS X, you won't want to go back. I've
been using a Macintosh since 1985 (Mac 128KB with an internal 400KB floppy
at that time, with an ImageWriter I that I paid $2500 used),
I have the original disk that came with my Pismo and it is 9.0.1, not just
9.0.

I could possibly send you a disk image from my restore disk if you would
like. It will be _big_ (capital letters, exclamation point, etc.) :-)
Alternately, I could burn you a CD with the image, or even of the
I've been using my Pismo (G3/400, 640RAM, 40GB Travelstar HD) happily
for over 2 years and I've found the best OS has been 9.2.2. 9.1 was
the pits. Many crashes, stalls and freezes. 9.2.2 has been very stable
and snappy. If you have the original hard drive I recommend upgrading
