I don't understand why it isn't feasible as both the PowerBook Medic and
the
ebay seller I posted could send the keys through the mail. The last time I
sent a letter with a CD inside to a friend of mine in Denmark it cost less
than $5, so why can't you have them

back on!
That did make me chuckle...

It's been a couple of years, but as I recall, I just pried up with a
fingernail and it popped off.
Sorry, about that.
It was only my account hiccupping...(sheepish smile) and I fired off the
wrong email confirming I still want to be on the list

Anyone, anyone? Nope, it's not in the manual, Apple only describes that
module's replacement.
Morning, all. I've had my 12 G4 PB for about a month, now. I'm very
happy with it, even though my battery life has become questionable with
the 10.2.8 update...
I've noticed that, when running on battery, it seems the sound
subsystem gets turned off, but wakes up when a sound event gets
Is that possible? Assume that my local coffee shop has a wireless
network of some sort. Is there a PCMCIA (sp?) card that I can
install that allows that?
I don't know too much about public wireless notebook use - is there a
web-site that someone could point me to that gives a quick tutorial
I never coil mine up (that is the design flaw) and have had no problems with
it in the last two years and I have two of them.

I just think that, overall, the design of the Yo-Yo was flawed, IMO. If
you've had good luck with yours, that's great! But, I still think the design
was flawed.
Is this an energy-saving feature? It doesn't seem to happen when
running off the AC adapter...
Yup. My 17 PB does the same thing.

Hello, I recently purchased a GigE 667 Tibook with a
backlighting problem and broken hinges. The
backlighting is under control, now its time to work on
the hinges. They have the classic syndrom of snapping
off, so I assume part of them are stuck inside the
powerbook display. How do I go about
Brandy,
Thanks for the reply. I have installed a known good 128 SODIMM and
nothing. I also removed the chip and still the three chimes. I think
this may mean a new logic board is needed. What do you think?

Could mean your On board ram took a dump,
Try installing a known good 64-128

Thanks for the reply. I am not sure what you mean when you say reseat
the processor daughterboard? I was not aware that could do this on an
iBook.

A general comment on Ti-Book hinges. I had a green vertical line problem on
my Ti-400 that got replaced under Applecare by replacing the whole display.
It needed two tries to get it right, and then the lid was very tight and
hard to close. a couple of weeks later one hinge had cracked through

On my powerbook gigE 667, I noticed that my fan comes on quite a bit,
and after a long time of use, the corner of the power button gets hot.
The part located there is the motherboard and inverter, and I was
having some backlighting issues. Do you think the inverter is the
culprit?

Pretty tricky operation.
I replaced a hinge by peeling the side of the screen open (just the
border) and took out the broken pieces. screwed a new hinge in and
knocked carefully the peeled border back. It is a little-bit bubbled
now, but works great. Use a heavy glue to keep the frame together
Nothing wrong with that.
My gigE 550 does the same thing for 2 years. Ti-books are using the
body for cooling down. Just keep the screen up so the heat can escape.
