Check over the warranty coverage. If anything related to the HDD
itself is covered, get it (the HDD) replaced. . .sooner than later.

Ok so I have my old travelstar 20gb drive in a external case. I havent used
it in a while and just plugged it in. My tibook wont recognize it. It turns
on and is spinning but I cant access it. I have Panther too.

did you go into disk utilities does it see it there ?
if not go to the panther CD boot the cd then see it will see it there .
if does not then try to go back to 9.2 and use the drive setup then
you can go back to the CD and it should see it
