6. I suspect the problem is related to the back-up battery since the laptop
is about 3 years old. However, I can't find any documentation on how to
replace it on this model (Pismo Firewire 400 Mhz).
If any of you kind folks have had a similar experience or can point me to
documentation on
suppect
oops! this a a cross between suppose and expect
resulting from mind blather and finger diarhea.

Anybody has any suggestion has to how to remove or make scratches on the
palm rest case less visible?
Any idea, short of replacing the whole whizz bang?
Well, if its a pre-Titanium, that is plastic, so you could try a very
fine rubbing compound.

What kind of rubbing compound?

Don't yet know how well they work, but it looks promising

ordered a PowerLogix G4 upgrade card
for
this little beauty.
OS X likes RAMs, and a faster hard drive wouldn't hurt either, but it all
depends on how much you're paying compared to a new/used TiBook.

A couple of things that make we want to unsubscribe from
this otherwise sometimes useful (signal) mailing list:
1) seemingly endless subject thread but actual topic has
changed several times (-- noise)
2) repeated ranting and raving (noise)
3) re-hashes of a topic primarily because poster
Sorry, they want it back after two years!
Wow! that's exorbitant! $4,000 for a _rental_.
I'd say that withdrawal is something to consider.

I'm running OS X, and want to pick up 10.2 when it lands next month. this
isn't a question of money - it's strictly a matter of how efficiently this
PowerBook will continue to operate as newer and newer OS's become
available...
I have this concern as well, but I'm going to upgrade my Pismo and
into Windows 95, select Control Panels,
Displays,
Advanced, and turn off hardware acceleration there. This may give you
better
performance as well as better stability.

You have a 400mhz G3, and this would be a 500mhz G4. That is a 25% clock
rate increase. You can expect (because you are plugging it into an older
architecture) around a 20% speed increase across the board when you factor
in the limitations of your drive/bus speeds and video card.
Hmm... mostly
