To deactivate, quit Safari, go to Terminal and type this command,
then hit Return to deactivate Debug:
defaults write com.apple.Safari IncludeDebugMenu 0
Hope this helps.

If you're in OS X, simply click on the offending icon in the menu
bar, then hold down the Apple/Command key while dragging the icon to
the desktop. Let go of the icon and it disappears with an animated
"poof".

Well, here goes another learning curve. I bought an external Yamaha firewire

iBooks do not have a PRAM battery, Instead, they use either AC power or
battery power. That's why, if you take longer than 15-20 seconds to change

default mode.

Thanks to the good advice from fellow listers, my new G3 iBook 700's access
to the Internet via Airport card works perfectly with my local network and
satellite Internet access -- with and without encryption turned on. The $

Thanks. I think it's an ASCII password (plain ole English alphanumeric
text). But adding a $ before the password turned on the Airport card so that
it sees the network and gets a signal strength. Turning off the Airport card
and turning it on again elicits lots of blinking lights on my WAP, router
Well, I just lucked onto the answer following my second Google search. Some
person said, "You may have to put a $ before your password." How simple! I
put a $ before the password, and the Airport card activated. How weird.

Okay, I'm stumped. I've got an just-obtained iBook 700 (OS X -- 10.1.3) with
built-in Airport card. I'm having no success connecting it to my local
network, which the Airport card "sees" as an Airport Network. I select my
local Wi-Fi network name and put in the 10-character WEP password. After a

I've got a 700 MHz G3 iBook (dual USB) with 12" display. The previous owner
didn't take very good care of it, and the U-shaped titanium bezel brace
inside the display is broken on either side of the clutch cover attaching
screws. The previous owner tried to fix things with SuperGlue. Enough said.

I'm looking for a full set of 9.2.2/OSX installation/restore disks for a 700

I'm also looking for two keys: the big Delete key and the left carat/comma

I'm also looking for a 20GB or larger 9.5mm hard drive for this machine.

Well said. You articulated exactly what I've been thinking and feeling. I'm
gone, too, for the same reasons.
