Gary, let me give you my experiences.
I have two WS PB, a 14 in screen and a 13 in screen. I have put a
Sonnet G3 500Mhz in both with easy installation and no problems in
operation. I am running OS 10.2.3 on both as well as OS 9.2.2. Neither
have had any problems.
But be aware of something
Another thing to remember, besides the 66mHz bus speed, is the limited
graphics chip. The Wallstreet and Lombard use the older Rage Pro
architecture. The Pismo and Rev.A Tibook use the Rage128 Mobility. It's
noticeably faster. It's not as fast as the Radeon, but it's much faster
than the Rage

Good point. I neglected to mention. This can be a big issue for OS X,
although I have not had any problems to date. Some screensaver graphics
and similar items run choppy.

What will be the advantage of your upgrade to that of Sonnet or
PowerLogix?

Well, as he said, it would run on the regular firmware instead of
requiring software to run. Are there problems when attempting to boot
up from a volume that doesn't have the special software installed on
it? For example, a system installer CD?
I'm not exactly sure how it works... the only
I too have a question regarding the processor upgrades for the
wallstreet machines. What can one expect for battery life after the
upgrade especially for the G4 upgrade? Can someone who has the upgrade
comment on this?
Also to clarify a point made earlier, not all powerbook series II
Battery life for me has been shorten but not excessively. As we all
know there are some many variables when it comes to measuring battery
life. I have a battery in each bay for both of my WS PB's and I can get
on average 2.5 to three hours of life. Be advised that I use a PC card
for Firewire

Hummm, I will have to look into that a little more then. I do remember
Sonnet mentioning about the processor cycling problem but, you bring up
an interesting thought.
