Select one of your .doc documents. Don't open it. Select get info from the
file menu. Under the option for Open with:, select Microsoft Word. Below
that you should see this option: Use this application to open all documents
like this. Right below that you should see a button called Change All. Clic
When I want to use Nisus, I use Nisus, but when I want
to use Word (my default), I should be able to use
Word. How annoying.

supposed to be a "helpful" feature. I spent a while trying to get the
icons to change to no avail. Eventually some of them changed but I
don't know why.
Well I sort of found the answer. I did a "Get Info" on a word document and
from there was able to set Word as the default application. Everything
works fine now, with all word documents opening in Word, only trouble is
that they still have the Nisus icons with "doc" on them. Any way to reset
the
Select a Word document in the Finder. Press Cmd-I. Select Info
window>Open With>Application popup>"Word". If it's not there, select
"Other..." and navigate to Word. Click "Change all..." and confirm.

got confused and thinks that ALL ".doc> documents should open in Nisus. How
