Actually I think my firewire port just died! I tried to plug in my

Before you replace the motherboard.
Try this:
Shut down and unplug.
Hit the system thingy button on the back.
Boot back up and IMMEDIATELY reset the date and
time (working with the date wrong screws up all sorts of stuff--I
don't know why. Then check the port again.

Ok so I have my old travelstar 20gb drive in a external case. I havent used
it in a while and just plugged it in. My tibook wont recognize it. It turns
on and is spinning but I cant access it. I have Panther too.

you can go back to the CD and it should see it
