The Boot settings are changed with XPF from that point on, so you're correct.
Actually, not even a reset-all fixed this for me

Your loss really. I found on my (now sold) WS II with 4 megs VRAM and
256-382 MB RAM that Panther was more compatible and more problem free
than Jaguar.

It's reset-all and reset-nvram (sans ), not with an underscore.

All I said, is that this is not needed. Normally at least. So I wouldn't
say one should start with that setting to on. But I suppose it's not
harmful to have it on, but unecessary.

Unless one saves the NVRAM settings. If you do, you can't
use startup disk app without freezing the comp.

Thx, Thomas.
I just upgraded the Ram on my WS II 300 MHz to 512 MB

I would certainly encourage you to download the XPostFacto application

Well you download and install XPostfacto first.
Then you run XPostfacto and it will install some
stuff and then you'll have the option of installing
off the Panther CD, so it will reboot onto the Pather CD and install away.

First, I'm definitely not an expert on this, but from the pull down
menus in XPostFacto, it indicates it installs BootX, extensions and
Startup items. You also have some additional options, many of which
relate to debugging. Probably for a wallstreet user, the main checkbox

You would see much better performance with 512MB (2 x 256MB)...

Are there ways of installing Panther on a Wallstreet ?
Is it worth it from a performance point of view ?

It runs well on a 300 MhzG3 with the caveat that you really don't want
to starve it for RAM...then it runs really poorly.
