be sure to call IBM and check on the warranty on that drive before you chuck it. Many of the travelstar drives have a 3 year warranty. Even if you need to purchase a new drive sooner, you can have that one fixed under warranty and get a working drive back to use in an external case, or sell

Ok, I have a 500mhz Pismo. All has been fine, I tried to start it up, but all I get is click, click, click from the drive. It has a 48 gig Travelstar in it. After the clicking, it shows the question mark and the finder folder. I tried booting with tech tool pro, all it found for volumes

Bad news, my friend your hard drive has died. The clicking sound, is the tall tale sign your hard drive is dead. The second factor is Tech tool Pro can't find your hard drive. I hope you have your data backed up. If you haven't backed up your data, you might try the freezer trick, to temp mount
