What is meant by synchronizing Macs?
Is this a method of automatic back up from each computer to the other?

Something like that. It is when you have a set of documents on one computer
and you want to maintain an exact set of copies

Reply: I was leery of synching for years - didn't really trust or understand
the methodology, which I assumed required one record
I use both a dual USB icebook and a 7500 desktop (OS 8.1). I use them
both regularly and need to synchronize the data between the two
machines. When I moved to OS X on the iBook I discovered that there
was no free sychronization program.

I use a PowerBook G3 Lombard running OS X and a PowerMac 8600 running
OS 9.2 and have no problem connecting from the 8600 to the Lombard. I
connect through the chooser via AppleTalk over Ethernet.
