It should, I've got one from a TiBook in mine. Just unbolted the

The bezel doesn't fit, but it's a slot loader, so it's less important.

Bruce, about how expensive are TiBook superdrives, as I'd like to put
one in my Lombard eventually.
I figure an original SuperDrive ought to go for $50 or so, based on the
prices of current models, eg: Pioneer DVR-K05 8X Dual Layer Slim DVD±RW

I have had a problem with one DVD sounding like a

slot-loading unit.
I thought it was caused by an imbalance of the DVD; I
don't have that problem with any other of the DVD's
I've tried, though there seems to be a problem with

My dad just got a G4 iBook (800 mHz), and there seems to be a small,

When i inserted the Tiger DVD to upgrade it, the drive spun up, but
very loudly. Like a buzz saw loud. Is this a known issue? Is it
correctable at home here, since I don't think this machine has a

there something in the OS Apple System Profiler? Does

I HATE the way Apple does this. ATAPI is standardized so that no
special driver files are required. Apple only blesses certain models,
and we have to live with the consequences whenever we upgrade.

The answer was given to you -
With OS X in the Utilities folder, within the Applications folder there is
DISC UTILITY.
Use that to erase it.

the cd correctly on spindle.
combo drive behavior was replicated by apple tech person. hence the
replacement of drive. doesn't seem to have done the trick though.
Slightly more worrying is the fact that I have problems

I'm having trouble burning cd's with my Ti-book's internal combo drive

Dear Listessas, Listas -
How hard would it be to replace the DVD drive in a PB G4 500 with
the ones now standard (?) in the 'new' Ti 550 and 667 ? I have
replaced HD, RAM etc. in different PB's and I heard that there are
really only two (?) manufacturers for the 'new' Combo drives.
