You may need to set up the Hostname in the router to be a specific name. I set one of these up for a friend with Comcast (used to be HOME), and we had a little trouble with it until we set that up.I think the Linksys tech support people where the ones that finally helpped with that. Call

I setup a Linksys router for my neighbor with a cable modem, and the problem was the caching of the MAC address in the cable modem. You need to power up the router before your cable modem -- if the modem can't contact the computer or in this case the router on powerup, it uses the MAC address

i decided to go wireless after reading the previous posts. my pismo works fine directly connected to earthlink cable modem. it talks to and configures the linksys router (befw11s4 ver 2), but i can't get to the internet via the router, even though the wan led is lit on the router. i tried both the

Is your pismo getting an ip address and gateway ip from the router? You may need to enter a static and gateway ip on your pismo manually. The IP on your computer will be different now, probably 192.168.0.100 or something like that, and the router should have the ip that was formally used by
