Here's an example- the ipod. Every mp3 is stored on the ipod in a hidden, or
'invisible' folder named ipod_control (or controller, i cant remember) and
then in a folder named music, then in a series of folders starting with F0#.
In mac os 6 through 9.2.2, get yourself a copy of resedit2.1.3.
a ResEdit fan, you should know ResExcellence
(http://www.resexcellence.com). It does offer a section on OS X mods.
As for hidden files in X, it has literally thousands of them (all
with cryptic names that only a Unix geek can understand), which is
part of the reason why you can't just do a Finder

Sherlock can be customized (click the Custom button) to search for invisible
