Hi, I messed up BIG time!
After installing a new HDD, I pressed the ON/OFF button a couple of
times upon seeing that the HDD is not recognised (the multi-colored
wheel kept on spinning when I clicked on the new HDD icon). I know I
should not do that but that's too late now!

Try formatting the HD using the install disc. If it does not show up
under disc utility, then you may have to find a utility like Gparted,
put that on a disc and format and partition the HD.

No, you can burn gparted on a windows machine.

Sorry if I did not mention that! That is the problem. I can't boot
with the older HD now, which is installed with the OSX. Therefore, I
can't use the G4 at the moment. I thought I might be able to install
OSX again by booting from the CD but it doesn't work. I've read
somewhere that you can't boot

Here's what I will do first. Take the power cord out from the mains.
Remove and replace the memory, video card, and the ribbon cable and
power cable that goes to the HD and DVD/CD

I've tried replacing most everything but the motherboard, but am
currently just getting a single boop tone on start up. And I can't
remember what the likely problem is when that happens, as I don't
recall having that occur previously

Flash has gotten worse, it just hasn't gotten worse faster than machines

Testdisk seems more suitable for fixing partition problems, rather
than recovering a directory structure lost by formatting. The demo
versions of both File Salvage and Data Rescue have brought up a bunch
of working files. Since the disk is formatted FAT32 (but formatted on
a Mac by Disk Utility),

My primary interest in flash is to watch Nova on hulu.com. The site
requires an upgrade to Flash 9, which isn't available for my 64-bit
