Trouble fixing G5

2010-11-26 Thread G T
I bought a 2.0 Ghz g5 along with a bunch of other parts from someone who was closing down his repair shop. He told me that the only thing that was wrong with it was a broken power supply (since he has helped me with other stuff I am sure it was in that state when he gave it to me). However, I just

When my G5's power supply blew (only one week usage total), Apple replaced it for free (it was part of an extended warranty program that ended in Jan.2010), Apple also replaced the motherboard and both CPUs as part of the power supply replacement. When I asked about it, they said it was oft

Help! External HD vanished from desktop

This is a 1 TB OWC Mercury Elite Pro external hard drive that I've had for maybe a year and a half. Today its icon just vanished off the desktop. The drive is still running, at least when I touch it I can feel the disk spinning inside, the case is warm, and the blue power light is lit. The drive se

Thanks Isaac and James. I have an old version of Disk Warrior that worked with early versions of OSX, that I suspect may do more harm than good if I tried it, so I'd better not. I'll just buy a fresh new copy for 10.5. I'm not much of a techie so I hesitate to start taking drives out of their case

OK Isaac. I'll probably try that too somewhere down the line. First I thought I'd give DiskWarrior a go. I dug around in my disks and found the DiskWarrior 3.0.2 disk, which has "for OSX" written on it in pen. But I'll bet the last time I used it was for OSX 10.2 or something, a long time ago. Dare
