know there were some issues with using the master/slave on the
motherboards ide connectors. I believe you could only use one master
on each channel. One channel was for the disk drive and the other was
for the dvd/cd.

probably freeze up. that speed generally is beyond what the CPU can do. and
the fans can't take it.
some of the G3's can be OC'd well,
you need to buy a PRAM battery before trying this. it may be the issue with
booting. if you wont buy the battery , abandon the project. they only last 3
years, not 11.
no mac or that era will run reliably with a dead battery and startup issues
are a common
symptom.
