Yeah, and you know if you write a pure text to speech text adventure game like
my Dungeon Master with a command interpreter you would have no review cursor to
check spelling of names and objects. That could make the typing in of the
correct command even way more frustrating.

but you probably didn't have those back then

That's for sure. Not being able to review the screen and check the
spelling of words would be a major setback to any text adventure that
primarily uses Sapi etc for speech output. In fact, I have that exact
problem with Winfrotz and NVDA.
I can turn on Sapi in Winfrotz which works fine

To tell you the truth I never thought that it would be much fun to try to write
a command interpreter for a text to speech game. You know how some of them are
much better than others. But anyway, that is why my version of a text to
speech game, Dungeon Master, is menu driven

Well, assuming you did get the source code I doubt it would do you
much good. Most interactive fiction games are written in a language
such as Inform, AGT, or Tads, which are pretty different from VB 6.
I'm not even sure you can really call them programming languages as
they are
