Maybe add the use flag cpudetection to mplayer (and maybe also ffmpeg):
$ euse -i cpudetection
global use flags (searching: cpudetection)

Hi, guys
Recently I found that mplayer can't change the aspect ratio. I have
no such problem with mplayer-bin nor with vlc. What's the cause of this

I currently have a dilemma.
When I use kmplayer to watch a video (wmv format, in this case) it
appears I have a choice. If I configure kmplayer to use mplayer, I get
sound but no picture, conversely, if I configure kmplayer to use
mplayer-bin (with no other config changes) I get a picture, but

Hi
Does anyone of you use ~amd64 up up to date and have problems with mplayer?
I cannot play movies since a couple of days, but I can't understand if
it's a problem of xgl which I installed few days ago or Gentoo
problem, since I experience the same even in a traditional Gnome
session :-(

G'day everyone,
Running ~amd64 I have both mplayer and mplayer-bin merged. amd64 land
is the usual place for such a scenario so thought I'd write to this list.
I'm wondering if the following issue is with the latest version of
mplayer or an issue with my setup:

There is also gmplayer, and I believe gmplayer-bin comes with the
mplayer-bin package.

Thanks, that worked very well!

Some codecs are 32bits only, so you shoud try something else:

Hello!
I tried to emerge mplayer-bin because I need to watch some windows
videos... The format is the wmf and the codec the dmo (wmv9dmo family).
I use emerge and the win32codec are installed too!
Has someone saw a video in a 64bit gentoo box?
Thanks,
