I saw this on a post a while ago.
But i haven't found much in the archive.
What i am looking for is "how to test a new kernel"
But leaving the one i have in place. So if it does get hosed i am
not S.O.L
a link to an archive will do great.
Thanks

What guest OS('s) do you have running on your vmware?
Have you run into an OS that would not install on vmware?
What steps did you take that might of been different for an install?
the reason i ask is i ran mandrake version 9.1rc-1 on vmware and it
froze my gentoo box? I had no

The difference i have seen with mandrake and gentoo. Is you dont have
the "shutdown" icon screen like you did in mandrake. how are you
shutting down your system ?
do you use the "halt" or "shutdown" commands?

part that causes it to crash. on compiling of kdemultimedia.
Now i have manually compiled the others kdeaddons and kdeartwork. that
leaves kdemultimedia.
any thought on how to force it or do i need to remove xawtv?
thanks
