I have a gentoo linux system which I often use from remote. I also have
a SPARC SUN Workstation running Solaris 8 which I use as an
"X-Terminal". I log in to my linux box via ssh (X-Forwarding on), start
evolution and get:
$evolution --sync

It seems like the build for dev-lang/php-4* has no support for xml,
even though 'xml' use flag have been set. I've tried unmerging libxml2
and sure enough, building dev-lang/php-4* pulled libxml2 as well,
but a simple test indicated undefined xml functions (such as
xml_parser_create()).

Not really, but you do need to realize that distcc doesn't guarantee that
jobs will be sent to the rem
Lately I've been thinking about making my remotely hosted server the
distcc machine for all of my systems. Is there anything wrong with
making a remote machine like that the distcc system? It's the fastest
system I've got by far.

I believe that Gmail *requires* SSL to connect, I don't think it's a
privoxy issue.
I connect to http://gmail.google.com, which seems to redirect to an
https:// link, from there on it's straight in.
Gmail also works fine using SSL and Thunderbird via my squid & privoxy
combination.

user log in and out from kde. For the login I find ~/.kde/Autostart
directory, but for log out I don't find a corresponding directory.
