I think andrea is talking about mosaics.
You can reduce the number of layers by mosaicking individual raster
that are compatible:
- same number of bands and data type
- same crs
- compatible list of resolutions for overviews

Move the GeoServer data directory and set GEOSERVER_DATA_DIR . It is a
really good idea to do this anyway ;)
If it's Linux/Unix you can also use a symlink (man ln) . This is

I did my master thesis in 2009, in which I wanted to request CityGML over WFS.
At the time GeoServer wasn't able to handle 3D data and therefore I turned to
