Never mind, turns out in the rest.properties file, I've put the name of the
USER instead of the USERGROUP, hence 403 forbidden.

Hi,
can you describe a bit more your use case? Are you trying to authorize
OGC service calls? Or is it just the administration UI that you're trying
to get into?
In any case, I believe you should connect to GeoServer directly first, and
then
setup proxy authentication so that GeoServer uses and
Hi Andrea, many thanks for your reply.
Mysticism abounds , in that I have tried various versions above 2.5.4,
certainly 2.5.5 and an early 2.7 and I think (shall verify) 2.8 on an ubuntu
server.
Right now though I replaced 2.5.5 with 2.8.2 and then republished the

Ciao Michael,
I guess the point is that we have been using/testing it only with SOLR up
to 4.x.
I would suggest you to do a quick test and see/report what happens.

David,
I don’t see anything in the code that would lead me to think the Solr module
doesn’t work with 5.x. The documentation lists supported versions and stops at
4.10, so I thought I’d check.
Thanks,

Hi,
i have a Geoserver 2.8 (deployed on Tomcat 7) behind an Apache Webserver.
The Apache has a htaccess for http://serverWithTomcat/geoserver/*
The authentication on the Apache is done against a Ldap directory and works
fine. After the authentication from the Apache i get another authentication
Although one thing to bear in mind - more complex SLD's created with QGIS often
don't work in GeoServer without manual tweaking. Certainly worth trying though.
Cheers,

Hello, Bart.
Sorry about the lack of response. I was using Geoserver with SQL Server
initially, but it performed poorly. On the other hand, Geoserver and
PostGIS work really nicely together, so I now install PostGIS and Geoserver
on the same server, and replicate my data to PostGIS. (This
One option would be to create a label layer using the Easy Custom Labeling
plugin in QGIS which generates a new layer with the labels, points, leaders
etc in it which you could style using SLD. QGIS might even export the style
the plugin creates as SLD for you.

Hi Ian,
Thank you very much for point out tools & possible ways to solve it.
That helps a lot. I'll create the custom Grid from my layer & add into
GeoServer as a layer.
Best regards

I only started working with SLD recently, and a challenge emerged. Is it
possible to create leader lines connecting labels with features of point
type shapefile? I still have not found any examples, tips etc. SLD
specification and GeoServer docs (labeling reference) does not contain any
hints
Hello everybody,
I try to use a Perl module, www::mechanize, in order to automatise a
session with geoserver.
I do that because it is impossible to create a datastore for
ImageMosaicJDBC with the REST API, so i would like to add the new raster
data source with a Perl script.
but it fails,
Dear list
I didn't receive any reply (yet) on my last question, so I might as well try
again. Same topic, other question.
Defining a sqlserver datastore (in geoserver 2.8.1) I have the possibility to

* Fill "Table hints"

Dear list
I have found some posts about sqlserver performance issues when doing wfs
requests an large datasets.
Sqlserver chooses a non-optimal queryplan when doing a spatial query with
sqlserver native paging.
Without native paging sqlserver is slow when performing non spatial requests

Hello,
I have a layer in GeoServer with time dimension: no End attribute,
Presentation: List (in fact I tried other options with no luck).
I'm accessing it via WMS and I would like to show all the geometries when
the TIME parameter is not provided. I tried setting the 0/ range as
default
