system. Especially the role/group is totally ununderstandable for me.

is. My advice is to delete layer. Then check the store, if it is still valid
and connection ok. After that you can try to republish the layer. I have not
used Postgis layers via JNDI. My way is to create use Postgis

Or is it a Geoserver problem? We changed pg_hba.conf so that md5 was replaced
with trust and now I can create a store using localhost. Is the problem, that
Geoserver does not send MD5 encrypted password to Postgresql?

I can connect to the NEW server's database from MY COMPUTER using PgAdmin III,
and I CAN CREATE A STORE using the new server's database from my own computer's
Geoserver and from the old production Geoserver.
We are preparing to move to a new server, and at the same time upgrade
Geoserver from 2.3.1 to (at least) 2.5.4. The new server is a Centos 7 server
and we have got Tomcat 8 and Geoserver working already. But before setting
GEOSERVER_DATA_DIR to point to old 2.3.1 data, I'd like to know, what

Writing own apps using Javascript and Openlayers is not the easiest way to go,
but surely worth of an effort. I was not familiar with Javascript at all, when
I began. I had mostly programmed with Visual Basic.
However I started from the ground looking at other's code and Openlayers

This is my configuration: Windows7 , Geoserver 2.1, Postgresql 8.4 and Postgis

You have to set Declared SRS. Click Find button to find if you don't remember,
or just type EPSG: to the Declared SRS-box where is the right number.
After that Compute... will work.
