I am also faced with the same issue.
I use the mosaic plugin for adding raster .it shows black background when I
set input transparent value to #00 and output transparent value to
#ff, the raster becomes hide and it shows white page.
how can solve it?

No, I don't use caching (in that case), but I have experienced that
behaviour with earlier versions too (2.3.x).

I am working with 2.4.4 on windows.
I have added an image mosaic as a datastore (several dispersed air
pictures, geotiff rgb, big holes in between) and published it as a layer.
I have set the Input Transparent color to 00 and left the Background
