The last bit is fairly easy. Rights holders don't require

Trouble is the BBC does not hold hold the rights to world wide distribution
on all of their content.

ROKU Smart TVs and sticks have an app called FoTV which allows
streaming and recording of BBC, ITV and Channel 4 and 5 shows,
and there is also an Android app (and probably an iPhone app) No
shortage of legal (and illegal) ways to get BBC programmes.
Most BBC shows eventually end up on other
Not only does the BBC not want to exploit a market that people are
currently using for free through the back door, they are wasting their
time spending a fortune on a competitor to Amazon Alexa, Google
Assistant, Apple Siri, Microsoft Cortana, Samsung Bixby and god knows
how many more AI
Interestingly the Genome service has an \Explorer option whereby it is
supposed to allow you to search the Archives. However I've not yet got
it to find anything.
When doing a search on Genome itself sometimes there are links to
recordings on iPlayer.
There are indeed quite a few OTR enthusiasts

Then there are VPN services - free v.v. paid for. If the Beeb offered
such then folks would surely pay to watch or listen from overseas.
Anther revenue stream it does not been to want to exploit.
But I would opine one demand would be for archival recordings audio
(sorry 'sounds') and video. Once

While I don't disagree with much of your text, I believe you're wrong
about the BBC terms of reference. My understanding is that if you
access iPlayer from an Apple device, then that 30-day limit doesn't
apply. All get_iplayer does is emulate (or simulate) that Apple
environment, thereby avoiding
On my Freeview HD PVR I can record anything the BBC broadcast and keep it as
long as I want. And it is a higher resolution and bit rate recording, often
with 5.1 sound which iPlayer never provides. If I have to use iPlayer for some
reason, I am already putting up with reduced picture and sound
Boy, the hypocrisy here is stunning. The BBC allows time-limited downloads,
but does NOT allow downloads without an expiration date. Every single license
payer here is violating BBC's terms of service by using GiP to download files
that do not expire. Yet heaven forbid someone from outside
Could not agree more. Well said.

It is best NOT to do that. That is not what get_iplayer is for. Please stop.

Hi Barry, can I ask how much extra you are going to chip in to the BBC
pot, to cover the cost of the episodes of Celebrity Master Chef that you
are stealing??

FWIW I'm also unhappy when people use get-iplayer for purposes like this.
Not only because it means some people are making use of what the rest of us

This is why I stopped subscribing to this list a couple of years
Bravo, Jon.
Giving Americans freebies at our Licence payers' expense is disgraceful.
"Grab" = "Steal".

I find it easier to add the pvr files manually, as follows:
Add a text file to the pvr folder with the following content:
modes best
output V:\BBC iPlayer Recordings
subtitles 1
thumb 0
type tv
versionlist default
pidrecursive 1
pid b007mtf0
The last two lines are the ones that will pick up
Hi,
Can someone please tell me how I do this? I promised some friends in the USA I
would grab this show for them. I need the video and don’t need subtitles or
audio description.
Is there a syntax that will grab the published episodes, and that will run in
the background grabbing each episode
