IIRC, VideoLAN can use several different display methods depending on the
capabilities it can discern from the X config; on my MDK 8.1 system (which
has no DVD, and Cirrus Logic video), it uses SDL for the video display

Interesting. Mandrake puts Apache's default root in /var/www/html, and I
have it symlinked on one system to /home/apache, to make it easier to
backup/preserve-across-update the files, so I gather that I

A quick examination of the GRUB docs ("info grub"), specifically the
"DOS/Windows" section, gives the following syntax:
map (hd0) (hd1)
map (hd1) (hd0)
ot;Hey, I'm not on C:, I'm not going anywhere."
The LILO entry means that when booting this o/s, first swap the drives in
the BIOS so that this o/s thinks that *it* is on hda, and the *other* disk
is hdb.
Find the GRUB equivalent (or switch to LILO), and you're in bus
he packets never arrive to be forwarded.
Perhaps something similar is going on there.

r the change from MediaOne. It just works. I have a
new domain, less than a week old, using DNS from Granite Canyon; I just
set up a CNAME record to point to my attbi hostname, and all is well.

your fstab under that (/usr becomes
/mnt/usr, etc.). If you're doing this, as so often happens, because of a
trashed MBR, you can chroot /mnt and re-run LILO, and you're all set.

Short of all that, I'd at least make darned sure that I had a backup of

As for /etc/lilo.conf, change it & run lilo at your leisure, if at all.

Some systems disable the boot-to-single-user-mode-w/o-password feature as

this as an option). If this has been done on that box, he's bumming. :)
