Just a reminder that NEAR-Fest, the NorthEast Amateur Radio ham fest, is
this upcoming weekend on the Deerfield Fair grounds, Friday and
Saturday. I don't think there's any official GNHLUG presence planned,
but it can be a great opportunity to pick up some hardware, flashlights,
oddball items
I know many fellow GNHLUGgers are ham radio fans or electronics
hobbyists. NEAR-Fest is the NorthEast Amateur Radio festival, held at
the Deerfield Fairgrounds in the spring and fall. The NEAR-Fest is
coming up on October 10 and 11 (Friday and Saturday) and advance tickets
for earliest admission
Laura and I made it out to the Deerfield fair grounds late Saturday
morning to see the NEAR-fest, North East Amateur Radio festival [1].
Weather was great: sunny and bright, crisp and a bit breezy, a perfect
day for enjoying the near-peak foliage and outdoors.

I attended Near-Fest, the replacement for Hosstraders the Ham Radio
Festival on May 4th and 5th. Near-Fest was held at Deerfield Fair
Grounds. For the last several years GNHLUG has had an advocacy role of
promoting Linux and FOSS to Ham Radio Operators at this outdoor Ham Flea
Market
GNHLUG will be sponsoring a one-table display of Linux at the Near-Fest
Ham Event. Since we typically want a lockable, indoor space with power,
I signed up as a commercial vendor, which costs $40. per eight-foot
space (and $16 per eight-foot table to go in it). This is considerably
more than
