When you restart gnucash it should re-open the file you had open last
time. Is it not doing that? If not then what does happen when you
start gnucash and *exactly* how are you starting it?
Also which version of gnucash are you using and what operating system?

When I want to reopen Gnucash I have to go to the file when the old
files are kept and search them by finding the last file used and
entering it. How can I close the file so that when I return I can go to
he last file used. I tried just quiting and trying to name the file but
nothing seems to work.
