Premier Konkani Body of Mumbai Konkani Bhasha Mandal celebrated 13th
Konkani recognistion recently at Zaverbhai Patel Auditorium, Karnataka
Sangha, Mumbai.

Karnataka Konkani Writers Forum (Regd) organised a programme on the
subject Unity in Diversity. 49 Veterian Konkani activist and noted
Konkani writers from Maharashtra, Goa, Karnataka and Kerala were

Goans should openly come forward to insist on the use of Konkani
wherever it is not allowed in Goa. This is the only solution to make
Konkani popular over there. Or else Marati will continue for

If you think of Roman Konkani only for current Goan elders who use it
then whatever writing method followed is fine and very good. Also it
is not at all problem for me as I have mastered reading and writing in

TSKK just by introducing two symbols namely ^ (or inverted V) and ~
could achieve more than 90% accuracy in writing Konkani as it is
pronounced. Accuracy in Devnagiri or other scripts are less than 70%.
As per the new method Goem will be written as Goye~
and Goim will be written as

TSKK has done a good job by modifying Roman script of Konkani as it is
easy to write and to pronounce.
With the modifications now even Mangaloreans too have come forward use
Roman script for Konkani.

Why No Konkani
Rajesh Haldankar, Shiroda. It seems that the State Bank of India (SBI)
has forgotten to know that the official language of Goa is Konkani
although Marathi when used for official purposes does not harm the
Goans.
But what if Kannada is made as the language as can be seen at the SBI
if they are the major group in the village or constituency. There are
other areas of discrimination also, including economic disempowerment.
