Come now, Steve, don't make everyone think the weather is so bad up here. I
have 112,000 miles on my '93 and I haven't had to wear rain gear all that
much. ;^) You might want to think again before you sell.

Actually, I just purchased a Schuberth Concept helmet. This is the company
that makes the BMW System helmet. It is neither DOT nor SNELL approved, but
I have every confidence that it will afford as much protection as any
comparable helmet purchased stateside. They simply have chosen to stay out

Darren,
If the TPS seems to check out OK, you might want to check all of the other
sensors. My '94 was acting in a similar manner. I finally traced it to a
short in the cam position sensor. The wire had been pinched between the
head and the frame, penetrating the insulation and grounding it.
I just got back from the finishers banquet for the Northwest Passage Rally.
This was a three day event starting and ending in Everett, WA. It took the
riders through British Columbia, Alberta, Montana, Idaho, Oregon and back to
Washington. Suffice to say that Dave Biasotti did us proud! He tied

Dave,
First question: why aren't you at Laguna Seca?
Remove the bar end weights. Either use a large wrench or wrap the weight
with leather or something to protect it and use some channel locks. Once
the weights are off, either cut the grips to remove them or you may be able

Many of you know John from years past. For those that don't know, he is a
very serious, accomplished rider. He is one of a handful of people who has

I've mentioned this in the past, but it's time to revisit. If you have not
checked the torque of the nut that holds the counter shaft sprocket on
recently, do it now!
During a rally I was running this past weekend, the nut backed off allowing
the sprocket to work off of the splines of the output

Check out www.endurance-touring.net/index.shtml. Click on Iron Butt Way

Actually, I meant my squelch. And I haven't eliminated the whine, but by
watching the squelch and volume and riding only on smooth roads, I can keep
it tolerable. It is the most annoying whine and it is the ABS pump cycling.

Thanks for all you've contributed to this list through the years. Especially
your rebuild of the ABS hydraulic unit. We'll miss your input. And do stay
on so that you can jump in occasionally with your words of wisdom. Good
