At the expense of my pride I must try to discourage using bamboo. I was young I didn't really know any better, and it was a bad idea. It splintered the first time I wore it. If you are looking for a cheap boning, I would use zip ties. Morrghan From: Joan

The ones I can find around here are too short. I bought 2 packs today and they were 11 and about 2-3 inches too short for my torso. I'll go looking again tomorrow. The bamboo I was considering is a Japanese kind used for making furniture and it doesn't splinter unless it's cut that way. It

You don't need to dip the ends. You can use a candle to help lightly melt the ends together, although I really found that unnecessary after having done a few dozen. I just clipped the ends rounder at that point with toenail clippers. I did that with my reeds, too. Kimiko --- On Thu, 3/5/09,
