didn't really know any better, and it was a bad idea. It splintered the first
time I wore it. If you are looking for a cheap boning, I would use zip ties.

I believe the bigger ones are sold with plumbing supplies. They come in
24 and 36 lengths. If you ask for

The longer ones are often called Duct ties (like duct tape) and with the
airconditioning supplies. They're used to hold AC ducts together. They're
MUCH beefier than the zip ties.

You don't need to dip the ends. You can use a candle to help lightly melt the
ends together, although I really found that unnecessary after having done a few
dozen. I just clipped the ends rounder at that point with toenail clippers. I
did that with my reeds, too.
